Participation in this program is open to people working in the area of institutional research who have not previously presented a paper at an AAIR Forum. The award consists of payment of the registration fee for the next AAIR Forum and AAIR membership until the end of the following year. The costs of travel and accommodation must be met by the award recipient (or his/her institution). Applicants for an award need not be members of AAIR at the time of making an application. They must forward to the AAIR Committee, by a specified date, an abstract of a paper that the applicant wishes to present at the next AAIR Forum. This abstract will be subject to the same referee process as other proposed papers. Proposals which are accepted by the referees will be referred to the Committee, which will determine the number of awards to be made and the recipients. In determining the number of awards, the Committee will take into consideration the financial situation of AAIR and the merit of proposals. In considering the merit of proposals, weight shall be given to the novelty of the research, its applicability across a variety of institutions, the validity of research methodology, and the likely interest of the subject matter to Forum participants. This will not prevent the Committee from making an award for a proposal which does not meet some or all of these criteria, but which is considered nevertheless to be outstanding. Successful applicants will be expected to attend the next AAIR Forum to present their paper. The Committee may appoint a sub-committee to make decisions regarding
these awards. The decisions of the Committee or sub-committee shall be
final. Click here to download this information in Word format. |
