We are seeking to appoint a Higher Education Research Data Collection (HERDC) Coordinator who will manage the collection, verification, validation and assessment of the University of Sydney research outputs for reporting to DIISR as per government guidelines.
In this role you will:
- develop effective and supportive relationships with administrative staff at all levels across the University and maintain a customer-focussed approach in the HERDC collection processes
- lead, manage, train and hire as required data entry, verification and assessor personnel
- identify methods to improve the collection process and identify other tools/resources to aid in the collection or strategically design upgrades to applications/systems
- provide guidance and support to Portfolio Directors and Team Leaders with regard to HERDC business processes and collection methodologies
- liaise with individual researchers regarding the status of their research outputs and when required advise of unsuccessful HERDC publications.
To qualify for this role, you will demonstrate:
- high level written and verbal communications skills, strong attention to detail and a proven ability to produce and deliver communications and training materials for diverse audiences
- experience in using new/emerging tools as part of a data collection strategy
- excellent organisational skills, the ability to complete tasks and to coordinate resources to ensure HERDC collections are reported on time and within budget
- the ability to think systematically combined with strong project management skills
- strong management and interpersonal skills and the ability to provide advice to staff on HERDC publication policy and guidelines
- tertiary qualifications
- experience with the IRMA application and/or HERDC publication collection guidelines (desirable).

Planning and Institutional Performance Unit (PIPU) is responsible for the provision of integrated, timely and accurate management and statistical information to the University's senior executive and managers to support the planning and decision making functions of the University.
The position
The primary objective of this position is to provide high level coordination of the implementation of the University's annual planning and review cycle, specifically, the annual planning and review processes. You will also provide professional and administrative support for cyclic reviews of Faculties and other organisational units.
The candidate
To succeed, you will possess relevant tertiary qualifications, extensive demonstrated experience in operational aspects of planning and review in a complex institutional context. Project management qualifications are also highly desirable. You will bring demonstrated high level analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to take initiative and generate creative ideas. You will be a natural and effective team player and previous work experience within a University will be highly regarded.
